Coming off dominating back-to-back wins at Racing Louisville and Chicago, the San Diego Wave looks to keep climbing up the NWSL standings versus Bay FC at Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday at 5 p.m.
The Wave has outscored its opponents 7-1 over the last two matches placing the team as the fifth-seed while Bay FC is coming off a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Reign and sitting in the eight-spot.
San Diego Wave and Bay FC played twice last season and each team came out with a 2-1 victory at home. SD Wave comes in as one of the top offenses with 12 goals over six games while Bay FC has scored six during the same span, but gave up six goals, among the best in the league.
One of the top performers is former San Diego Wave defender Abby Dahlkemper who has been a solid stabilizer for a backline that gave up 41 goals in 2024, the third-worst in the NWSL.
San Diego has given up eight goals with no team scoring more than twice in any match this season thanks to some great performances by goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan.
The Wave will follow up its game on Sunday with another home match on Saturday, May 10 versus the Portland Thorns before going on the road to take on Gotham FC on May 16. San Diego Wave and Bay FC will meet again on Aug. 16 at PayPal Park in San Jose.
