For the first time since its launch in 2010, following this year’s annual San Diego State University Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) food drive, the total amount of contributions collected has surpassed $1 million.
Led by SDSU’s Associated Students (A.S.), the campaign aims to combat food and nutrition insecurity in the SDSU and greater San Diego communities. This year’s campaign alone, which ran Oct. 4 to Oct. 27, raised over $70,000.
ARH is a partnership with the Banco de alimentos Jacobs & Cushman de San Diego. All donations benefit the A.S. Food Pantry, a free service for all SDSU students facing food insecurity, and the SDSU Economic Crisis and Response Team (ECRT), in addition to the Food Bank. Last year, SDSU’s ECRT assisted more than 1,700 students and distributed $55,000 in emergency food support.
Additional information about the annual campaign is available on the dedicated Aztecs Rock Hunger website.
