Assemblymember Akilah Weber, M.D., in partnership with San Diego Food Bank, Feeding San Diego and the City of La Mesa, will host the annual 79^el Assembly District’s Turkey Giveaway & Health Fair on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will take place at La Mesa Civic Center (8130 Allison Ave.). Those attending are encouraged to take the orange line trolley and exit at La Mesa Blvd.

The event will be open on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last. There is a limit of one turkey per household. A member from each household must be present. Registration does not guarantee a turkey.

Those attending are given the following tips:

* Be prepared to stand in line for a long time.

* Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

* Bring umbrella for shade and water for hydration.

* Bring a cart to carry turkey and food items, they will be heavy.

* Parking is limited and you may need to find street parking before joining the line. Attendees should consider getting dropped off and picked up.
