Spring break is here, and three resorts at Evans Hotels – Bahia and Catamaran in Pacific Beach and The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla – are holding a mix of activities, including beachside movies, Polynesian festivities, sternwheeler cruises, spa treatments, and food festivals.
“For spring break, Evans Hotels traditionally likes to create fun, interactive activities for the whole family at all three of our resorts to take advantage of the longer days and kids’ time off from school,” said Robert Arends, Evans Hotels media relations and community outreach manager. “Our resorts were made for play. This year we’re launching a new Sunday Fun and Games Cruise on Mission Bay aboard the William D. Evans sternwheeler, featuring three stories of exciting games to explore, and live music.”
Arends added, “Easter festivities are always a hit at the Bahia, Catamaran, and The Lodge, complete with brunches, egg hunts, and visits with the Easter Bunny for a great way to bring together family and friends for the holiday.”
Arends said the Bahia, taking advantage of the warmer weather, is debuting weekend yoga and Pilates classes on the Palm Terrace for guests. “At The Lodge, a fabulous new sound healing class and package is planned for April 1, which includes a one-hour sound bath, full day use of the spa facilities, and a guided nature walk to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve,” Arends said.
“And don’t forget the authentic island vibes of the Catamaran, which dives into spring with a plethora of Polynesian activities on the weekends – like hula dancing, lei making, and a spectacular Torch Lighting Show. It’s like visiting Hawaii, but right here in our backyard,” Arends said.
CATAMARAN RESORT
Discover your “Aloha” at the Polynesian-inspired Catamaran Resort, 3999 Mission Blvd., with several family-friendly island-themed activities for guests set amid a tropical setting. Kids can show off their creative side at the bayside Keiki Klub (Saturdays and Sundays), featuring complimentary, interactive Hawaiian-inspired arts and crafts. Guests can also gather bayside and be transported to the islands with complimentary fresh flower Lei Making, Hula Lessons, and a Torch Lighting Show on Saturdays featuring rhythmic drums, and hula dancing.
At the outdoor enchanted Tiki room, guests can flit over to the Catamaran’s Bird Encounter, featuring six colorful, talkative parrots. The daily Bird Show (except on Sundays and Wednesdays) makes for great photo ops. Also make waves this spring as Bahia Belle Cruises debuts its Sunday Fun and Games Cruise on Mission Bay aboard the William D. Evans sternwheeler. Operating on Sundays (3-6:30 p.m.), the cruise highlights include three levels of fun to explore, live entertainment, interactive games like Giant Jenga, ring toss, plus snacks and libations for purchase. Departing from the Bahia and Catamaran resorts, this new voyage is a great way to spend an afternoon with friends and family. Tickets cost $20. Reservations are required.
Diners can also hop over to the Catamaran on April 20 to savor their delectable Easter Sunday brunch buffet, featuring a seafood and sushi cold bar, made-to-order omelet and waffle stations, leg of lamb, and honey-glazed ham. The resort also stages complimentary outdoor, family-friendly Movies on the Bay for guests every Tuesday and Friday at 7 p.m.
