Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park has opened its fall lineup of exhibits, including headline exhibit “Popnology” produced by Stage 9 Exhibits, “Colleen Doran Illustrates Neil Gaiman,” and “From Big Dots to the Digital Universe: The Evolution of Comic Book Color,” featuring art by renowned comic book colorist Steve Oliff. The Popnology exhibit shows how science fiction influences technological and scientific innovation.

3. Robots from popular scifi media are included in the Popnology exhibit.
4. The entrance of the Popnology exhibit includes quotes and artifacts from scientists and scifi creators alike. The exhibit opened Oct. 4 to teach people about how fantasy media influences reality.
5. A period room includes dozens of items like calendars, timers, telephone, records, calculators and more that are now all functions of smart phones.

10. Three patrons look at illustrations by Colleen Doran from Neil Gaiman comics such as “The Sandman,” “Norse Mythology,” “Good Omens” and other publications. This is also one of the fall exhibits.
11. The exhibit for Stan Lee’s 100th anniversary is still open on the lower level.
12. Artwork for “Cowboy Bebop’s” 25th anniversary has been displayed since this summer.
