
On the evening of Sept. 3, the Crusaders Soccer Club held its Competitive Team Captains Ceremony at the Mission Trails Church.
The ceremony was produced by Competitive Assistant Director of Coaching, Seth Tunick. Seth presented an outstanding Power Point outlining all the qualifications for a team captain, including key points on how to best execute their newfound responsibilities.
Every competitive coach announced the team captains for their respective team(s). Every captain was given a captain’s armband to wear at all practices and games and received a certificate as a team captain for the upcoming 2024/2025 competitive season.
In addition to the awarding of the Team Captain armbands, several players and adults were recognized including:
Volunteer Legacy Award to Terry Cords for 37 years of volunteer service as a coach and now and for many years as the President of the Crusaders Soccer Club.
Legacy of Dedication Award to Seth Tunick who began playing soccer with the Crusaders in 1975 and as a Crusaders coach since 1989.
Exemplary Service Award to Kelly Wood in recognition of her support for the Crusaders Soccer Club while serving as the Area Manager for the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department from 2015 until her retirement in August of 2024.
2023/2024 Coach of the Year to Victor Garcia in recognition for his exceptional leadership, dedication, success and commitment to developing and inspiring players.
2023/2024 Competitive Team Manager of the Year to Dana Rager in appreciation of her outstanding dedication, selflessness, organization excellence and invaluable contributions.
2023/2024 Girls Player of the Year to RoseMarie Pastenes y 2023/2024 Boys Player of the Year to Luca Nuckles.
Girls Legacy Player Award to Avianna Paulin y el Boys Legacy Player Award to Spencer Woods.
Crusaders Soccer would like to thank Keith Barnett, a partner with VIVE Create Future, the firm producing our recreational uniforms and all practice t-shirts, for donating the jerseys for our recreational head coaches and the referee jerseys for our 2024 recreational fall season.
The nearly 1,500 Crusaders Soccer players comprised of 32 Competitive Teams began their fall season on Sept. 7 and the 94 Recreational teams begin their fall season on Sept. 14. Keep your eyes out for all our players wearing their Maroon and Grey Crusaders Soccer uniforms.
