The Crusaders Soccer Club’s 2023 fall season is well underway, and the soccer players are continuing to score goals.
The Competitive Division is comprised of 344 Competitive players making up 24 teams. The teams are playing very successfully in all the age groups in games against teams from other clubs throughout San Diego County. A special congratulations to Coach Victor Lopez and his Boys 2015 team. They are a brand-new team and have won all six of their games this season.
In addition, more than 100 Recreational Division teams, made up of 1,103 enthusiastic players are enjoying playing soccer every Saturday. There are 150 volunteer coaches, assistant coaches and division coordinators who continue to donate their time and expertise to ensure all these players have an opportunity to play soccer.
There is also an opportunity for all golfers to lend a hand by participating in a fundraising golf tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
Competitive coach Erick Melendez, the director of the tournament stated, “Join us for the Crusaders Soccer Club’s Fundraising Golf Tournament at the 9-Hole National City Golf Course, scheduled for Wednesday, October 25. The proceeds generated from this tournament will play a pivotal role in covering the travel expenses for 30 outstanding Crusaders soccer players and coaches who constitute our two Boys 2007 competitive teams. They will be participating in the prestigious Las Vegas Players Showcase tournament scheduled for March 8-10 in 2024. This tournament stands as one of the nation’s largest college soccer player showcases.”

On Sunday, Oct. 8, Victor Melendez, the Crusaders Soccer assistant director of coaching and the goalkeeper coach for the San Diego Sockers, conducted the first of two goalkeeper clinics for the goalies of the Crusaders Soccer Recreational teams.
Twenty-four goalkeepers participated in the clinic. Melendez instructed them on the very basics of goalkeeping and included several goalkeeping exercises they can practice on their own.
Crusaders Soccer will be conducting soccer camps for all Competitive and Recreational players, including special goalkeeper camps over the Thanksgiving and winter (Christmas) holidays.
