El Cerrito residents are invited to attend the El Cerrito Community Council meeting on Monday evening, April 21.
The in-person meeting will take place at the College Rolando Library, 6600 Montezuma Road, or via Zoom, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The main agenda items are ECCC Board Elections and the New City-Proposed Solid Waste Management (Trash) Fee.
There will be ECCC Board elections:
- If you have attended one ECCC meeting in the past year, you are eligible to run for a seat on the Board and vote.
- Let ECCC know if you are interested in advance or at the meeting.
- You have to be at the meeting to vote on a secret ballot.
Residents can join in for the latest on the City’s Proposed Solid Waste Management (Trash) charges for single-family home residents, including:
- how to read the city’s notice of the June City Council hearing on instituting the new solid waste management (trash) collection rates;
- how to return a NO vote on the currently proposed program so a better program can be worked out;
- understanding what is included in the proposed charges, which are some of the highest in San Diego County, and may involveenhanced services like weekly recyclables pickup which would increase fees;
- understanding the implications of having the proposed fees added to property tax bills instead of water bills, which is the more typical practice;
- understanding future costs to be determined by the City.
Attendees will also get their regular updates from:
Representatives of our elected officials
SDPD Community Relations Officer Joshua Cummings
Mid-City Community Plan Update
College Area Community Plan Update
PATH Villas El Cerrito and Family Health Centers
Local planning groups (College Area & Eastern Area Communities)
Parks & Recreation and other organizations.
Also, ECCC has partnered with PATH Villas El Cerrito to form a Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC) that will be the conduit for concerns that residents of El Cerrito may have with the operation of the residential housing at the Family Health Centers (FHC) building.
If you have concerns or positive comments regarding the residential housing in the Family Health Care building, at 5472-5482 El Cajon Blvd, send them to elcerritocommunitycouncil@gmail.com, attention Greg Estep, Chair of the NAC.
ECCC meets in the Library’s community room. Attendees should use the side entrance directly to the Community Room, which you can access using the walkway that fronts the library on the parking lot side. The door will be open until meeting time and will remain unlocked in case you are coming a little later.
