Have you ever wondered how to get a job with the City of San Diego? Are you aware of the different types of jobs available?
The City of San Diego Personnel Department will be hosting an Employment Information Session on Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m. City Personnel staff will instruct patrons on how to seek employment with the City of San Diego and introduce the large variety of jobs available around the city. Learn how to join the City of San Diego team.
On Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. we will have a presentation by the San Diego Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). San Diego Fire and Rescue Personnel will train and empower citizens in safe, effective neighborhood CERT teams. Patrons will learn life-saving actions that could help families, neighbors, and businesses get through the first few hours of an emergency.

The library will host author, Richard Carrico, on Friday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. Carrico’s book, Monsters on the Loose, details the unsolved murders of three women in San Diego in 1931. Local law enforcement, out-of-town criminologists, and investigators from what would become the FBI pursued hundreds of leads, but the killers were never brought to justice.

On Sept. 30 at 3:30 p.m., join us for a very special Book and a Ballerina Storytime. A professional ballerina with the City Ballet of San Diego will read a story and teach some basic ballet dance steps. This program is a wonderful introduction to the world of classical ballet for kids.
Local artist, Terry Naughton, will have his paintings and drawings displayed in the Winer Family Community Room from Sept. 4-30. Naughton worked as an animator at Walt Disney Studios for 17 years, working on all the major Disney animated films from 1985 to 2002. Come listen to his story at his Artist Reception on Saturday, Sept. 21, at noon.
Do Your Homework @ the Library returned to the San Carlos Branch last month. Our Homework Center is open to all K-8 students and provides free assistance with homework assignments. Homework coaches are available to guide and support student learning. The center is open on Monday to Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.
The San Carlos Friends of the Library Used Book Sale is held on the first Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come buy books and support the Friends of the Library.
Ask for a membership envelope from the book sale cashiers to join or donate to the San Carlos Friends of the Library. We are in need of your gently used book donations which are accepted any time during library open hours.
