Our year was eventful as always.
To brag a little, our library is one of the busiest libraries among San Diego’s 35 branch libraries.
If you came by the library during summer around the noon hour, you would have found the library especially busy. Our staff volunteered to host San Diego’s weekday summer lunch program for kids. Lunches came with stories, cultural programs and games. There were 1,742 total attendees and staff gave out 1,230 books. It required a massive staff effort and was a huge plus for our kids and families. Kudos to the library staff.

Besides the usual story hours, and the daily “Do your homework at the library” after-school sessions, there were lots of special events, like this Star Wars Day. Our objective is to strengthen families and to encourage kids and adults to read and to explore their world.
The City Library mascot (Yodi Coyote) paid a visit to the Library’s Rolando Street Fair Booth to the delight of the little ones. Together, the library staff and the Friends of the College-Rolando Library set up shop in the Street Fair Kids’ Zone offering free used books, crafts and entertainment. We feel this is a great way to promote library use and contribute to a great community event.
