Frances Taylor is a trendsetting clothing brand created by Yashica Topalovic. The brand was named after her grandmother on her father’s side, Francis Taylor, and she has been creating a splash for herself the past five years. Topalovic has been creating her designs, reconstructing slightly worn garments, and offering wardrobe styling services. Her boutique is located in the Art Hub of Barrio Logan, also known as Urban Old Town. She and her husband personally designed the boutique’s Victorian-inspired interior, adding a unique aesthetic charm.
Topalovic’s journey first began when she learned how to sew from her aunt and then furthered her skill through classes in San Diego. She is enthusiastic about sustainability and now offers an Infusion Collection, which features reconstructed garments and pre-loved fashion pieces starting at just $10. Her boutique also carries garment rentals, including her couture gowns.
She has a collection featured in the boutique named Jewelry with Friends, located in the Grossmont Shopping Center Mall. This collective boutique not only features Colombian designer jewelry from Latin Treasure and pieces from local businesses but also hosts jewelry-making workshops. Additionally, the boutique collaborates with the Chamber of Commerce to offer a Women’s Networking Meeting.
As a wardrobe stylist, she gives fashion consultations, wardrobe and closet editing, and personal shopping services. She also specializes in personal styling to help clients organize their wardrobe for new career opportunities.
In 2023, Topalovic spent one year participating in events with Fashion Week San Diego. One of her standout designs was an avant-garde piece symbolizing a caged woman. She formed a collaboration with a European painter and a hairstylist who created the intricate caged hairpiece. This striking design was exhibited at the Art Renewal Center, Sotheby’s NYC, and the San Diego Film Festival. Wrapping up a full year of amazing events, she finished with a grand finale at the FWSD Fashion Show here in October of 2023.

Originally from El Centro, Topalovic eventually found her way to San Diego. She had many personal challenges – her family spent time in and out of shelters starting when she was 11 years old. Now, she dedicates her time to giving back to shelters and transitional homes. She regularly donates clothing bags to the Sister League of San Diego and offers services y unique workshops such as Essentials for Fall/Winter garments, designed to boost their confidence and provide practical fashion solutions. To uplift the atmosphere, she incorporates jazz music and even hosts a raffle during the events.
