Hi, my name is Patrizia Baynes; a proud member of the College Area community and Hardy Elementary School’s new Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) president.
Our family moved from the Bay Area and settled into San Diego’s College Area in March 2020. Little did we know that the world would come to a standstill, changing life as we knew it.
However, as the 2021 school year kicked off, our daughter entered kindergarten at Hardy and was eager to make new friends. That first day of school was a mix of emotions for me, uncertain of what the “new normal” would bring. But by the end of that day, I was greeted with excitement, hearing about her cool teacher, and how she had already made five new best friends. As the year went on, Hardy started to feel like home.
Over the past two years, I’ve been able to volunteer on the school campus, and gained insight into the extraordinary efforts of the Hardy teachers and staff in nurturing the students. Witnessing their dedication and commitment firsthand, I realized that if anyone truly deserves support, it’s the teachers who shape the young minds of our community.
Coming from a large Italian family, I strongly believe in the importance of community bonds. I firmly believe that a strong community enhances the educational experience for everyone involved. As the new PTA president, my vision for the year ahead is to continue to strengthen the Hardy family and community bonds, creating a welcoming environment for both students and educators.
I know Hardy Elementary holds a special place in the hearts of this community, with generations of graduates still residing in the area. It gives me great joy in knowing that the school’s legacy continues to thrive through the years here in the College Area.
With the start of the 2023-2024 school year just around the corner, The Hardy PTA is set to embark on a journey of unity, compassion, and educational excellence. Together, we can create a brighter future for the students of Hardy Elementary School and the surrounding community.
