Chef Roy Yamaguchi may not be from La Jolla, but his expertise certainly has left an impression on the community. Roy’s La Jolla, located at 8670 Genesee Ave., is celebrating 10 years of service this week, and Yamaguchi himself will be making a visit to La Jolla for the celebration. On Thursday, April 14, Yamaguchi will give a food presentation alongside his executive chef and partners of nearby Roy’s locations, in which he will showcase his epicurean expertise. Yamaguchi is known for inventing “Hawaiian fusion” cuisine at Roy’s, which first opened in Honolulu in 1984 and has 31 locations internationally. Yamaguchi has also published three cookbooks: “Roy’s Fish and Seafood,” “Roy’s Feasts from Hawaii” and “Hawaii Cooks: Flavors from Roy’s Pacific Rim Kitchen.” The April 14 presentation and five-course meal (with wine pairings) is $85 per guest and reservations are available from 5 to 9 p.m. by calling (858) 455-1616.
