December is almost here, bringing the holidays closer, and with them, a time for friends, family, and the cherished East Village community to embrace a month brimming with festive celebrations. Not only will local businesses around the community offer an array of yuletide delights, but the neighborhood will be sure to dazzle you with exciting community events that are perfect for the whole family to enjoy!
East Village Tree Lighting and Holiday Market
The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived! The holiday bells will be ringing at the return of the East Village Tree Lighting and Holiday Market on Saturday, December 9th from 3-7 p.m. at Quartyard and 13th Street for a night of holiday galore. The East Village Association invites friends, family, and the community to come together to celebrate the true meaning of the holiday season! The jolly celebration promises an evening full of live music, delicious food, fun activities for the kids, a curated holiday market by San Diego Markets, and a traditional tree lighting ceremony.
Ho Ho Ho! You can’t have a holiday celebration without the man in the big red suit. Friends and family are welcome to take pictures with Santa Claus himself throughout the festive evening. Watch your favorite downtown neighborhood light up the streets with stunning décor and bright smiles!
Taking place at 5:45 p.m., the East Village Association and San Diego’s elected officials invite friends and family as they mark the start of the holiday season with the special tradition of the Christmas tree lighting.
Throughout the evening, guests will be able to check out the East Village Holiday Market which will showcase a delightful selection of wonderful hand-crafted gifts, giving holiday shoppers the chance to purchase incredible presents for loved ones while enjoying live music and the festive spirit.
A yoook ahead
With the end of the year in sight, it’s time to look ahead to new beginnings. East Village is ringing in 2024 with the announcement of the East Village Artisan Market taking place every third Saturday of the month, starting on Saturday, January 20th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in The Merian Plaza at Park and Market.
In partnership with Las Jefas Markets, the market will give the community a chance to not only support local talent, but also shop a wide variety of artisan goods from several local businesses around San Diego. From jewelry and plants to accessories and scents, you’ll be able to purchase quality items for yourself or any loved ones while also getting to know the friendly faces behind the local businesses in the area. The East Village Artisan Market will feature new vendors each month, so make sure you stop by every month to see what new gems you can find!
Make your way down to the jolly ole’ neighborhood of East Village this month because it will be a December to remember! Whether it’s your first time or you have already made it a tradition, East Village is the perfect neighborhood to celebrate an unforgettable holiday season.
