En its late June meeting, the La Mesa City Council proclaimed July as Parks and Recreation Month.
Parks and recreation promote emotional, physical and mental health and wellness through organized and self-directed fitness, play, and activities such as aquatics and sports programs. Parks and recreation supports the economic vitality of our City by partnering with local businesses and non-profits to offer community events such as the Sundays at Six Summer Concert Series and Movies in the Parks presented by the La Mesa Park and Recreation Foundation.
Parks and Recreation create memorable experiences such as Summer Day Camp and supports human development and learning opportunities that facilitate social, intellectual, physical and emotional growth in people of all ages and abilities, from Tiny Tot programs to the Adult Enrichment Center.
The City of La Mesa noted it is proud of the programs and spaces provided to its citizens. The Community Services and Public Works Department staff are dedicated professionals who work to bring people together, provide essential services and foster the growth of the community. The services they provide are vital, from protecting open spaces and natural resources to helping fight obesity and providing activities and resources for people of all ages.
