El Junior League of San Diego’s (JLSD) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Council announced the launch of its 2025 Artist-in-the-House Day, inviting diverse artists to submit their work for consideration in the inaugural Artist- in-the-House Day on Saturday, April 5.
This first-of-its-kind gathering in the heart of Bankers Hill will celebrate community, creativity, and connection through the transformative power of art.
“Art doesn’t follow rules about who can create it or what it should look like,” said Junior League of San Diego’s DEIB Vice President, Lucy Miller. “It’s for everyone—whether you’re making it or experiencing it. Art has the power to move people in unique ways, speaking to each person’s individual experience. With this exhibition, we want to bring together artists who offer different perspectives and remind us that creativity knows no boundaries. That’s what inclusion means to me—creating spaces where every voice is valued and celebrated.”
Artists are invited to submit works that reflect themes of DEIB, community, and social impact. JLSD is seeking up to 10 artists, with a preference for larger medium paintings, prints, or other pieces that can be displayed on an easel, as well as small free-standing works. Submissions can include a variety of mediums, such as prints, paintings, pottery, glasswork, and more, as long as they can be reasonably displayed.
The selected works will be showcased at the inaugural Artist-in-the-House Exhibition on April 5 at JLSD’s headquarters in Bankers Hill (210 Maple Ave) from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to view the curated exhibition featuring talented San Diego artists, meet the artists, purchase select artwork and enjoy light refreshments.
Miller added, “Whether you’re an artist, an art enthusiast, or someone passionate about DEIB themes, this event is for you!”
The deadline to enter the exhibition is March 12.
