La Jollan Laine Lipsky, a parent educator and certified professional coach, is releasing “Stop Yelling,” a book on peaceful parenting.
“Stop Yelling” is the ultimate guide for overwhelmed parents. It aims to revolutionize how parents discipline children to create harmonious households. In this accessible manual, Lipsky draws on her extensive experience as a mother of two, coupled with her background as a former elite athlete who excelled at Ultimate Frisbee with the women’s team at Brown University. She offers a unique perspective that is both actionable and straightforward.
Lipsky’s goal is to enable parents to break free from the painful cycle of yelling. Understanding that parenting is not a sprint, but a marathon, she points out it requires the right tools and techniques to succeed.
Through practical exercises and step-by-step guidance, “Stop Yelling” helps parents regain their composure and improve relations with their children, fostering an environment of calm and understanding in their home.
“There’s no instruction manual for this,” noted Lipsky about parenting. “There is no right way or wrong way. The right way is what each person feels is right for them.”
Regarding why she penned “Stop Yelling,” Lipsky said: “The truth is we now have so much good information, in broad strokes, about what yields happier, calmer parents, and happier, respectful, calmer kids.”
Lipsky noted that “parenting impacts the trajectory of a child in the way they operate in the world. The parenting style used with children impacts their success.”
A native New Yorker, Lipsky noted the two things she wanted most in life were to be a parent and a coach. Combining both, she has an extensive background of many years of parent coaching including working with challenging inner-city and emotionally disturbed kids. “I wanted to develop my approach that was very athletic, very practical,” she said.
About her dramatic book title, Lipsky said: “I chose the title very simply because, in more than 20 years of working with kids and families, the number one thing parents kept telling me was, ‘I’m yelling too much at my kids.’”
Lipsky teaches positive, peaceful parenting but she added, “That doesn’t mean no conflict. I teach how to handle the conflict in ways that don’t rupture or damage your relationships.”
To complement her book and offer live training in a group setting, Lipsky is offering a six-week virtual course. For more information and to sign up, visit https://parentally.me/.
Lipsky said “Stop Yelling” is a “parenting book combined with a live coach. I didn’t want to write another parenting book to sit on the nightstand and collect dust. I teach parents how to develop a framework, a skill set.”
“I wanted to provide overwhelmed parents with practical strategies that can be implemented immediately,” continued Lipsky. “Following the steps outlined in this book, you will experience a transformation in your parenting journey, leading to greater peace, joy, and fulfillment.”
Asked what she wanted people to come away with from reading her book, Lipsky replied: “I expect, and hope, they come away with a deeper understanding that parenting is a skill set and that you can improve your parenting if you do the work, with the right coach guiding you.”
It’s also important for people struggling with parenting to know that there is a solution. Concluded Lipsky, “They need to stop blaming themselves – or their kids. You’re not a bad person. Maybe you lack some skills in parenting. Work on your weaknesses. Go out and get yourself some training and some skills.”
Stop Yelling is available in both print and e-book formats from Amazon. For more information about the book and Lipsky, visit parentally.me.
