The La Mesa-El Cajon Branch of the American Association of University Women will feature the Hon. Rebecca G. Church as the featured speaker at the Saturday, Nov. 11. meeting.
Church is a judge for the San Diego County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Dec. 23, 2022, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Lorna Alksne. Prior to her appointment, Church was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of California.
Church will be addressing the question: “Is the justice system fair and unbiased?”
The meeting will feature a Law & Order theme with a social half hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. Branch meetings are open to the public and there is no charge to attend. The meeting will also serve to introduce local branch scholarship recipients.
All general meetings are held in King Hall at the Foothills United Methodist Church at 4031 Avocado Blvd. in La Mesa.
