Prepare to raise your flags high for the 25th annual La Mesa Flag Day Parade along La Mesa Boulevard this Saturday, June 8. This cherished tradition, tracing its roots back to 1997, is a celebration of our nation’s colors and spirit of patriotism.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the parade will start at the intersection of University Avenue and La Mesa Boulevard, proceeding west through La Mesa Village to Acacia Avenue. Leading the parade will be the United States Marine Corps 3rd Wing Band.
Former City Councilmember Ruth Sterling will be this year’s grand marshal. Ruth’s tireless dedication, from spearheading the parade’s committee to establishing the Flag Day Parade endowment, exemplifies the essence of our celebration.
While supplies last, attendees can enjoy complimentary ice cream bars provided by the La Mesa Community Relations and Veterans Commission at “The Lookout” in Legacy Park, located at the intersection of La Mesa Boulevard, Fourth Street, and Allison Avenue.
Limited parking will be available at the Civic Center parking lot, located at Date Street across from the La Mesa Police Department, 8085 University Ave. We encourage attendees to walk or use public transportation for this event.
The La Mesa Flag Day Parade is sponsored by community member donations, EDCO, Pete’s Place, and the La Mesa Village Association.
