The La Mesa Youth Advisory Commission will bury a time capsule later this month that captures the lifestyle, memories, and future visions of La Mesa’s youth in the 2020s. This new capsule will be sealed with reflections on current trends and expectations for the world in 2050.
The event, which includes La Mesa Vice Mayor Patricia Dillard, will take place on Monday, Nov. 18, 4 p.m. at La Mesa City Hall, 8130 Allison Ave.
Parking will be available in the City Hall parking lot, located at Date Street across from the La Mesa Police station. The City encourages attendees to walk, bike or take public transportation to this event.
In February 2023, the Youth Advisory Commission unveiled a time capsule from 1992, which had been placed by the Youth Advisory Commission of that era with their aspirations for the year 2020. To honor this legacy and continue the tradition, the Youth Commission will now place their own time capsule.
Additionally, a new plaque will be installed to replace the old one, marking the significance of the occasion.
