When life gives you lemons in La Mesa, some make Limoncello, the newest Italian restaurant in East County.
This new restaurant delivers Capri-inspired vibes that take you to the Amalfi Coast of Italy.
Limoncello, Italian charm meets citrus haven. It’s adorned with dome-like structures, reminiscent of Amalfi architecture with grand domes and sleek molded arches. These designs show the Italian blend of modern elegance with a homely touch.
The restaurant is surrounded by Almalfi coast ceramic tiles, adorned with authentic paintings featuring Sofia Loren, the famous Italian actress known for her beauty, talent, and iconic roles in classic films, and topped off with a menu that will transport you overseas.
Every Italian meal begins with a delightful array of antipasti, where fresh vegetables take center stage. Followed by handcrafted pasta, made with semolina flour and eggs, becomes a canvas for luscious tomato-based sauces and savory pestos.
Among the menu items:
- Insalata Amalfi: a vibrant salad bursting with colors and textures. Drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, the salad offers a harmonious blend of flavors, making it a perfect appetizer for an Italian meal.
- The handcrafted pastas:
- Margherita pasta: a timeless classic with a twist, pays homage to the Queen Margherita.
- Stuffed pappardelle: topped with a tantalizing truffle and porcini cream sauce.
- Mezzelune baccala: a traditional pasta filled with the finest salted sea bass. The tender filling, mixed with garlic, potatoes, and fragrant parsley, creates a savory and soul-warming experience.
- And many more.
“My inspiration is deeply rooted,” Alberto Morreale, the owner, expressed. “For decades, I have been captivated by Italy as a whole.”
Morreale’s path originated from fond memories of fishing with his father, refining his culinary skills alongside his mother, and cherishing trips to the Amalfi Coast with loved ones. These experiences have fueled his passion to create a restaurant inspired by the Amalfi region, bringing its essence to life in La Mesa.
Today his vision takes shape in ownership of multiple San Diego restaurants, including Smokey & The Brisket, The Seventh House, Farmers Bottega, and Farmer’s Table locations in La Mesa, Little Italy, and Chula Vista. With a deep-rooted passion for Sicilian flavors and a dedication to culinary excellence, Morreale brings the essence of the Almafi to life through this new dining destination.
“Our commitment to using fresh citrus zest in our dishes and incorporating it into our unique Limoncello Sponge Cake sets us apart and creates a dining experience like no other in La Mesa,” Morreale added.
Limoncello restaurant will be opening mid to end of August at 8273 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91942.
