The second longest-running sunrise Easter service in the nation will take place this Sunday morning at Mt. Helix Park.
This year, the service will be produced by Legacy Church of La Mesa and Pastor Thomas Lengyel. Every year, a different church handles the historic production.

Easter Sunday, 1917, began the reign of Mt. Helix, holding the second-longest Sunrise Easter Service. On April 12, 1925, the first Sunrise Easter Service in the new amphitheater was held. The event this year celebrates 100 years in the historic nature theatre at the top of Mt. Helix.
Shuttles will start from Grossmont High at 5 a.m. If you are a member of the Mt. Helix Park Foundation, only $35 a year per household, you will receive a permit for closer parking and shuttles, along with invitations to other member-only events. Service starts at 6:30 a.m., but you will want to allow plenty of time for the shuttle ride. It is a transformative experience to arrive at the Park as the night stars fade into the light of the sun coming over the mountain, so get there early.
