Pacific Beach has a new family brokerage and owner bringing a new energy to the local real estate market.

Longtime PB Realtor Chris Love and her daughter, Lauren Powell, recently joined Weichert, Realtors – SoCal Living at 4125 Mission Blvd. Management there has been turned over to broker-owner Scott Vinson, who is heavily involved in the San Diego Association of Realtors and many other local associations. Vinson plans to expand Weichert’s offices countywide.

“Weichert is a franchise that has been around since 1996,” noted Vinson, who added that independent franchises are more client-centered than corporate ones. “It gives us more freedom to come together as a team and say, ‘Here’s what we need to do to take care of our customers versus here’s how we satisfy our stock price,” he said adding, “The changeover to Weichert was a great feeling, and a great decision, and has given us so much more breathing room to use community-oriented, community-focused people around us to support our business.”

“We met at a caravan, and we both run different caravans,” related Powell about how she and Vinson first connected. She added she’s new to real estate having linked up recently with mom Chris Love. Powell is active in the local real estate community now being the executive director of the Mission Bay Real Estate Association and secretary for the Mission Beach Precision Planning Board, She will also be running soon for the board of Mission Beach Town Council.

“Part of the reason why we wanted to join up with Scott and Weichert is because he’s here in person, and that’s not always the case,” said Powell. “It speaks to integrity and work ethic. A lot of these cloud brokerages that have popped up over the last decade are fully remote. One broker is managing thousands of agents. So coming into the business having somebody that can directly train has been a huge asset.”

Love became a PB real estate agent at age 18 in 1976 working in a boutique office covering PB and La Jolla. “We grew the office that became so dynamic that Coldwell Banker couldn’t compete with us, so they bought us out and that remained a Coldwell Banker office until 2022 when they shut their doors,” Love noted adding, about Weichert’s physical location on Mission Boulevard, that “this corner has been a mainstay of real estate, in the community, for all these years. We came over here and remodeled this office and we were up and running for 1 ½ years as Exp Realty. Scott and Weicher came in and said, ‘We want to take over the office.’ We negotiated a buyout, and now we’re all with Weichert.”

Of her mom’s long tenure in PB real estate, Powell said, “We’ll walk into a house that’s a potential listing and she will have sold it three times throughout her career.”

“We’ve been instrumental not only in the development of the property but in the selling and listing of the property in the community and everyone knows us,” added Love.

Of Weichert’s association with Powell and Love, Vinson concluded: “What we have together as a team is wonderful. We have that non-stop motion to help everyone through the process. And Chris is the definition of local community. She sold most of the real estate around here and watched this place grow up. There’s so much to the real estate equation (selling) now that they (agents) need to be able to reach out and have that (knowledge) of the history of PB like with Chris. Clients need to be able to talk to me and Lauren and say, ‘I want to get my property out there with the maximum exposure possible to get it sold.’ We also know how to get you out there on a much larger scale utilizing all the new technology.”
