Recently, a pair of Patrick Henry students were presented with the Celeste Wilcox Legacy Award.
Wilcox graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1973 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University. She returned to PHHS to become a member of the teaching staff.
Her academic and professional achievements were remarkable in light of her socio-economic challenges. Ellife experience Wilcox had strongly influenced her approach to empowering students with knowledge, critical thinking and life skills.
The Celeste Wilcox Legacy Award manifests a great passion for fair access to academic opportunities and supports PHHS students who persist to achieve academic excellence. The award illuminates the hard work and success of students who thrive despite barriers and challenges.
This year’s recipients (pictured above) are Arianna Kendrick (sophomore) and Trang Nguyen (Freshman).
The Wilcox Family, the PHHS Foundation and the PHHS staff would like to congratulate these exceptional students.
PHHS looks forward to seeing what their futures hold.
