With the calendar getting ready to turn to February, Grossmont High girls’ basketball has rolled to a record of 18-3.
The Lady Foothillers have been getting tremendous production from Aakash Price (pictured in blue and gold uniform). Just last week, Price tallied 30 and 27 points, respectively in contests versus Granite Hills and El Capitan. She coupled the point production with 29 rebounds in the two games.
In this week’s victory over Steele Canyon (70-29), Price notched 21 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.
“Heart, hustle, humble are words that describe Aakash Price,” GHS Head Girls’ Basketball Coach Grace Campbell stated. “She is battled-tested every game as each opponent assigns their best defender or sometimes two defenders to defend her alone. Luckily, she’s a team player and knows when to distribute the ball to her teammates. She leads by example and everyone follows lead. Hard work, determination, and want is what we have. We will continue to defy odds and improve our program.”
Teammate Jaliyah Fleming has been a solid three-point shooter for Grossmont, ranking as the number two overall player in San Diego for three-point baskets and the top sophomore in that category.
