The Rotary Club of La Mesa and the Lions Club of La Mesa recently participated in a joint community service project.
The two service clubs filled more than 70 grocery bags with peanut butter, pasta, pancake mix, spaghetti sauce, fruit, snacks, etc.
Club members donated the food, filled the bags and delivered them to Avondale, La Mesa Dale and La Presa elementary schools.
The Fill-A-Bag program will provide a food package to chronically hungry or low income elementary school students who are at risk of hunger over the Thanksgiving vacation when free school meals are unavailable.
