Coming off back-to-back losses to the Colorado Rapids and Charlotte, San Diego looks to get back on track as it takes on Real Salt Lake at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams met each other on March 8 at America First Field with SDFC winning 3-1. Since then, SDFC has been inconsistent with two victories, three defeats, and one draw over its last six games dropping from second to sixth in the Western Conference.
Real Salt Lake has not fared much better having lost four out of its last five including a 1-0 loss to Toronto on April 19 dropping it to 11th place in the conference.
SDFC recently announced the acquisition of defender Oscar Verhoeven on loan from San Jose for the remainder of the 2025 season in exchange for $100,000 in general allocation money with the team holding a purchase option at the end of the season. The San Diego backline has had major issues over the last two matches giving up six goals during that span and potentially more if not for the talents of goalkeeper CJ dos Santos.
San Diego FC will play five of its next six games at Snapdragon Stadium, which will give the team, led by head coach Mikey Varas, an opportunity to climb back up in the standings with the only road match coming on May 10 versus St. Louis City SC.
