The Salvation Army Kroc Center’s Free Family Arts and Literacy Nights continue with “Musical Safari Scrapbook” a free performance by the San Diego State University Performing Arts Troupe with Jerry Hager.
This family-friendly show for all ages is Thursday, Jan. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Kroc Center’s Rolando Room at 6605 University Avenue.
This exciting safari adventure is a fun-filled live musical scrapbook that features original songs and music, theatre and movement highlighting the Troupe’s animal encounters. Marvel at the whimsical tunes about beasts in the wild and enjoy the clever visual elements of storytelling. It’s an exciting and educational show for audiences of all ages.
Families receive a free book “We All Went on Safari – A Counting Journey through Tanzania” by Laurie Krebs to encourage at home reading. In addition, families who attend this performance will also receive a free activity booklet filled with lots of safari themed games and puzzles.
Following the live performance, teaching artist Stacie Greene leads a hands-on art lesson, “Safari Scrapbook” where families can make a scrapbook of what they would like to see on their own safari adventure.
The free Family Arts and Literacy Night series is presented by The Salvation Army Kroc Center in collaboration with Family Arts Collaborative of San Diego. All Family Arts and Literacy Nights are free to the public. The series engages families in both live performance and hands-on activities.
