San Diego State University student Steele Idelson, 19, was among those seriously injured in the terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.
According to reports, Idelson, who is said to major in psychology at SDSU, was on Bourbon Street with a friend and student from the University of Georgia when the attack occurred. Elle Eisele, who attended K-12 school with Idelson at a private institution of learning in Fort Myers, Fla., was also seriously injured. The two were celebrating the start of the New Year. Both are said to be receiving treatment at University Medical Center in New Orleans.
Officials at the Canterbury School in Fort Myers released the following statement:
“The Eisele and Idelson families are deeply grateful for the outpouring of thoughts, prayers, and offers of support for our daughters following the tragic attack in New Orleans. We are especially thankful for the exceptional care and compassion they are receiving at University Medical Center. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the first responders, whose swift actions may have saved our daughters’ lives. To everyone who has reached out with love and support, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Fourteen people were killed and several dozen injured during the attack as locals and visitors celebrated the beginning of 2025 early Wednesday morning.
