About the SoCal Pro Series
The SoCal Pro Series is created by USTA Southern California and is designed as a stepping stone to help up-and-coming professional, college, and high-level junior players transitioning to play on the pro tour. The SoCal Pro Series gives Southern California residents and those playing at Southern California universities the advantages of receiving all wild card entries into each of its tournament main draws and pre-qualifying events.
The SoCal Pro Series is a collection of $15,000-purse events on the ITF World Tennis Tour and USTA Pro Circuit. The SoCal Pro Series gives us a glimpse of the future of American tennis before some of these players become global household names. Southern California is our country’s greatest hotbed for Junior and college tennis players and, through the decades, Southern California has produced more American tennis talent and Grand Slam champions than any other region in the country.
The purpose of the SoCal Pro Series is to provide new and more competitive opportunities for Southern California’s elite juniors, collegiate players and those residents who are aspiring to turn pro. Exposing these players to higher levels of competition within a professional tournament atmosphere will only enhance their games and speed up their learning curve in terms of understanding what it takes to become a successful pro.
The SoCal Pro Series provides players with a path to access ATP and WTA rankings points as a means of helping players to build their status with the professional tours towards gaining eligibility and qualification to more pro Tour events and ATP and WTA-level 250, 500, and even Masters 1000-level events, such as the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif.
At this year’s SoCal Pro Series, there’s something extra at stake for Southern California players. The top men’s and women’s players accumulating the most points throughout the seven spring/summer events will be granted a wild card into qualifying at the 2024 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells. These “Race to Indian Wells” wild cards are available to U.S. citizens who are either Southern California residents or current Southern California college students. Track their progress at https://www.ustasocal.com/proseries/ and on Instagram @ustasocal and @socalproseries as they vie for the golden ticket.
