Golfers tee off with victories
Several local scholastic girls golf teams are sinking victories to date.
At La Jolla High, the Lady Vikings under new head coach Brian Richter came into action this week with a record of 8-1. Key golfers include seniors Laurel Gill and Kumiko Hayazaki as well as juniors Taylor Doyle and Bridget Kilgallon.
“So far the season has gone well, but we anticipate tougher matches as we head into Western League play,” Richter commented.
At The Bishop’s School, the Lady Knights continue to play well for first-year head coach Billy Subang.
In action this past Monday afternoon, Bishop’s (3-3, 3-0 league) posted a 253-276 win over San Dieguito Academy.
Smoothing out the rounds were Libby Hooton with a 41; par for the ladies was 38. Next was Jameson Kearney at 52, Anne Williams and Kayla Perez with 53’s, Lexi Bohlmeijer with 54 and Stephanie See at 67.
In action last Tuesday, the Lady Knights scored a 228-318 victory over Canyon Crest High.
Leading the way for the Bishop’s was Bohlmeijer’s 41, followed by Hooton (44), Williams (45), Denell Falk (47), Kearney (51) and See (65).
Mission Beach hosts Digster 6 volleyball
The inaugural Digster Six on the Beach Volleyball Tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at the South Mission Beach Sports Park volleyball courts near the Jetty.
The tournament will include Men’s and Women’s Open Pros, Men’s and Women’s Weekend Warriors, teams of college players and youth boys and girls 16 to 10 years old.
