A new school year is underway at St. Katharine Drexel Academy.
Among some of the highlights:
Back to School!- The new school year at SKDA kicked off on Wednesday, Aug. 23! SKDA starts with three half days to start the year, to ease students, teachers and parents into the new routine as they transition off of summer vacation. We were thrilled to welcome returning and new faces to kick off the new year. Students were welcomed with music, balloons and a photo backdrop. The Parent Teacher Group (PTG) Board welcomed parents with coffee and treats to celebrate the start of a new year. It’s been a great start so far and we look forward to making wonderful memories and engaging in new learning.
Campus Upgrades- This summer, SKDA made some much needed upgrades to campus! Visitors can spot 10 new canvas photo prints spread throughout campus with current students. We also invested in new interior door locks and deadbolts so that each classroom can be locked from the inside safely and quickly. Lastly, we added a new security door so that two of our classes have a safe and secure emergency exit in the event that it’s needed. These upgrades not only have beautified the campus but have added an additional layer of safety and security.
Back to School Picnic- Each year, we kick off with our first community event- a Back to School Picnic! We host this event on campus to welcome students, teachers and families back to school after summer vacation. This year, we are hosting the event on Sunday, Sept. 10 with music, games and yummy food and drinks! What makes SKDA special is the community we’ve created and each month we gather in a fun and special way to form relationships and make memories. We are looking forward to doing the same this year!
Save the Date for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Open House- We are hosting our first Open House of the school year on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. for prospective Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten students for the 24-25 school year. This event is a play date model, so parents and students are welcome to join! It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the school, meet the teacher, visit the classroom and get to know other families interested in enrolling at SKDA. For TK, students must turn 5 before Dec. 31. For Kindergarten, students must be 5 before Sept. 1. Keep an eye out on our website and social media for more information!
