Yoga studio, wellness center, gift shop, and vegan cafe all rolled into one, Trilogy Sanctuary in La Jolla is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a three-day festival Aug. 2-4.
There will be dance parties, workshops, speakers, performances, yoga classes, musicians, an afternoon tea, wine and treats, live music, and a DJ all weekend.
Multi-level Trilogy Sanctuary at 7650 Girard Ave., Suite 400, is perhaps best known for its beautiful rooftop café offering an organic, vegan, gluten-free menu, a variety of yoga classes including aerial yoga, and services to nourish the spirit.
The sanctuary also hosts regular community-oriented events like a monthly open mic night, where people of all ages gather to share their talents ranging from song and guitar to poetry, art, interpretive dance, comedy, and more.

“Our 10th-anniversary celebration will be an enriching and soul-nourishing experience, unfolding over three spectacular days,” states Trilogy Sanctuary at trilogysanctuary.com. “Each day is designed to take you on a journey through themes that reflect our shared values and aspirations. This milestone is a tribute to the incredible support and love from each of you, in our community. The journey to this point has not been easy, but it has been worth it.”
The creators, owners, and operators of Trilogy are husband-and-wife team Leila and Joe Caldera. Leila, a British native, talked about how – and why – their sanctuary got started.
“I feel like we’ve come through a lot of challenges over the years, but there’s been a constant evolution,” she said adding she and Joe “wanted to create something together and we both had a lot of the same passions and goals.” She pointed out they were both into wellness and sharing communities.
“We wanted to create a space where the community could come together where we could offer all the things that we loved in our own lives,” she said. “And those things were good-quality food, community events, meditation, yoga, etc. The kind of classes that offer people the opportunity for personal growth.”
Though they’d never owned and operated a business before, Leila said the rooftop was “such a breathtaking space” that they couldn’t resist the opportunity and took a chance. “I believed in our vision,” she added.
Of her vision, Leila noted: “It is multi-dimensional. Trilogy’s premise was that to find joy and balance in our lives, it’s not just about one thing; it’s about mind, body, and spirit. We do need to nourish all those different parts of ourselves.”
Leila talked about what guests can expect from their 10th-anniversary fest. “We’re trying to create an event that showcases all the offerings we have been known for over the years,” she said. “So we’re doing a three-day event and creating offerings for everybody. We have interesting talks, yoga classes, sound baths, live music, and an open-mic afternoon. We’ll have local, live musicians.
“On Sunday we’re doing a family day with local clowns who will be doing kids workshops. We’re going to have giant bubbles and space painting. We wanted this event to welcome everybody and anybody.“
