Upcoming Workshops: Creativity and Skills for Every Gardener

DIY Pumpkin Succulent Arrangement – Saturday, Oct. 19 9 – 10:30 a.m.

As the season shifts into fall, what better way to celebrate than by creating your own festive decor? The DIY Pumpkin Succulent Arrangement Workshop offers you the chance to make a stunning autumn centerpiece.

Led by SCCG’s local Master Gardener, April Lowe, this “make-and-take” seminar is designed for all skill levels. Participants will be guided through the steps of assembling a beautiful pumpkin succulent arrangement that will brighten up any space. Succulents and decorative materials will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own pumpkin (while some supplies will be on hand, they are limited, so it’s best to come prepared).

Succulent arrangements are a fantastic way to blend the beauty of nature with fall’s signature decor element—the pumpkin. Plus, these arrangements last much longer than traditional fall flowers, and the succulents can be replanted after the pumpkin starts to break down. This workshop is a perfect opportunity to let your creativity shine while making something sustainable and beautiful for your home.

Gardening Tool Care & Sharpening Workshop – Saturday, Nov. 16

After you’ve crafted your pumpkin centerpiece, it’s time to focus on something every gardener needs to know: proper tool care. Join Master Gardener Jake Jacobs for the Gardening Tool Care & Sharpening Workshop, where you’ll learn the ins and outs of maintaining your garden hand tools.

From cleaning and sharpening to honing and oiling, this hands-on workshop will cover everything you need to keep your tools in tip-top shape. Regular maintenance ensures that your tools last longer and work more efficiently, saving you time and effort in the garden. You’ll even get the chance to practice on your own set of hand pruners, so bring them along!

Cost to attend these workshops are $10 per person or become a SCCG garden member and attend for free.
