When Linda Ravden was approached by her friend and successful catering business owner, Martin Hall, about opening up a new restaurant in La Jolla, the chance to fulfill a longtime desire to own a restaurant was too much to pass up. Furthermore, Ravden’s son and daughter-in-law had recently moved back to San Diego from New York City, and were searching for a new career path. Add to that Ravden’s recently-retired husband, and, she said, “we all decided to go for it!” Thus, Finch’s Wine Bar and Bistro was born. Hall found a space on Girard Avenue with “one of the most charming courtyards in La Jolla,” Ravden said, and the group decided to add something that was missing from the area — a wine bar “with a fun and relaxed vibe, where you would leave with an ‘experience.’” Finch’s, which opens on March 29, will feature local and imported wines with tastings, food pairings and other wine-related events. The menu will showcase locally-farmed, organic produce and, said Linda Ravden, “really good, uncomplicated food.” A daily happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays will include live music.
