La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club is gearing up for the school year at Preuss Charter School, located on UC San Diego’s campus.
Every year, these local Rotarians help Preuss School by providing scholarships, student awards, connecting with pupil peers in Afghanistan-sponsored schools, holding an annual career day, sponsoring 150 pupils to participate in a joint Cygnet Theatre educational program, and engaging the students in Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, Model UN, and the Hands of Peace project.
The award-winning Preuss Charter focuses on students from low-income families and first-generation college students and has an impressive track record of preparing and admitting students into UC San Diego and other colleges. The partnership with La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club means more students can make college a reality and be given the tools for success in life.

Another joint venture between La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotarians and Preuss is the Interact program for high school-age students. With meetings held on campus, Preuss students in the Interact Club become immersed in community responsibility through volunteerism. Similar programs can be established at other public schools, through a Rotary Club sponsor.
The La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club meets every Friday at 7 a.m. for breakfast at the UC San Diego Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club and welcomes business, university, and community leaders as guests and members. Check lajollagtrotary.org and email Christy White at [email protected] to check out a meeting.
