University City postal worker Beth West is working her last day in a career spanning half a century on Friday, Feb. 28. The following leap-year day, Saturday, Feb. 29, she is being feted by her colleagues for her service, which has included 35 years at the University City 92122 Post Office.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for West who is described as “the epitome of what has made the neighborhood a community.”
“She is always smiling, friendly, helpful and always goes out of her way to go the extra mile or just say hello,” said her colleagues in an email. “It’s always a pleasure going into the post office and getting helped by Beth, she is one in a million.”
In gratitude for Beth’s 35 years of service, the GoFundMe for her aims to compile a signature book and grant Beth a generous gift for her retirement, or maybe even send her on a vacation.
