As part of Women’s History Month, Grossmont College will be hosting a concert with music from three trailblazing female composers of the late 19th and early 20th century. The concert will be at 6 p.m. March 19 at the Performing and Visual Arts Center at Grossmont College.
The performance will feature Molly Gebrian playing the viola and Danny Holt on the piano. Both are renowned professional musicians who have performed widely.
The performance, Trailblazers: Celebrating Female Composers, will highlight the music of women who defied the social expectations of their time against the backdrop of a world war and a global pandemic. They are: Henriëtte Bosmans, a Dutch pianist and composer, was openly queer; English composer Ethel Smyth, who was a suffragette leader; and Dora Pejačević, a Croatian pianist and composer who rejected her nobility.
Tickets are $15 for the general public. They are available here: https://gcccd.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=1696
