The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) recently awarded more than $1.3 million in community grants and sponsorship awards to 39 nonprofit organizations that operate in eastern San Diego County.
National Nonprofit Day is Thursday, Aug. 17, and GHD gratefully recognizes its nonprofit partners for their essential role in the region’s healthcare system.
This year’s investment in East County’s network of nonprofit providers is expected to directly benefit more than 80,000 residents.
Priority areas for funding during the 2023 fiscal year were projects that provided direct, hands-on care, and those which addressed the unmet health needs of East County residents in the areas of aging concerns, behavioral health, cancer, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and the various factors that contribute to these issues.
“In addition to having built and supported our region’s largest hospital for nearly 70 years now,” says Board President Gloria Chadwick, RN, “the Grossmont Healthcare District is proud to assist the large network of nonprofit clinics and health and human services providers that address the health needs of the residents of East County.”
Since 1996, the board of directors has granted more than $40 million in financial awards to local nonprofit agencies serving residents living within District boundaries.
A complete list of the recipients of this year’s awards is available at: grossmonthealthcare.org. In addition to funding, the District supports its nonprofit community partners by offering free meeting and event space on the GHD campus in La Mesa, and advocacy and outreach support.
