
Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD) Governing Board President Dr. Gary C. Woods announced the appointment of Dr. Ryan Burke as the District’s next assistant superintendent of business services. Burke will assume his new role on July 1.
As assistant superintendent of business services, Burke will oversee operational departments, including educational technology services, fiscal services, facilities management, food services and warehouse, purchasing, risk management, and transportation. He will also lead GUHSD’s financial planning and budgeting efforts.
Burke brings 25 years of experience in public education to GUHSD, having served in both instructional and operational leadership roles. He serves as assistant superintendent of business services for the National School District in National City. Previously, he was director of adult education for the Sweetwater Union High School District, where he led one of California’s largest adult education programs and earned recognition as a California Model Program from the California Department of Education. He also served as director of categorical programs and language acquisition, overseeing services and budgets for multilingual learners and underserved student populations.
Earlier in his career, Burke served as principal of Lexington and Avocado Elementary schools in the Cajon Valley Union School District. He began his educational career as a classroom teacher.
In addition to his work in public education, Burke brings private sector experience to GUHSD. He founded Viking Financial Group, Inc., a real estate and financial services firm, and served as its CEO.
