The public is invited to join with the City of San Diego and Groundwork on Saturday, Sept. 23, for a guided community walk along sections of the proposed Chollas Creek Watershed Regional Park that is part of the City’s master plan development.
During the walk, people will work together to shape the future of the important community creek which begins in southern El Cerrito and empties into San Diego Bay at Barrio Logan. Having access to a new, large regional park, in addition to the one at Chollas Lake, will reportedly be a boon to the neighborhood.
Light refreshments will be provided during the event.
Those interested can join the walk at any of the three specified locations – or at all of them:
Location 1 – 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.; Southcrest Recreation Center, 4149 Newton Avenue, San Diego, 92113.
Location 2 – Noon – 1 p.m.; Castana Street and 47th Street, San Diego, 92102.
Location 3 – 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.; Chollas Parkway and Salta Place, San Diego, 92105.
Those attending are reminded to wear comfortable walking shoes, hat, sun protection, and bring water.
Topics to be covered include parks and green spaces, active transportation, climate resilience, habitat creation, social services, and much more.
