Hodad’s Burgers, with venues in Ocean Beach and downtown, will reopen today, Feb. 9, following the death of owner Mike Hardin, whose body was found in a suburban Fresno hotel Feb. 5 after he went to Northern California to visit his daughter. Hardin was 56. Authorities say they found nothing suspicious in Hardin’s death but that an autopsy will be performed due to the suddenness of the event. Hodad’s was opened by Hardin’s parents Byron and Virginia Hardin in Ocean Beach in 1969. The restaurant has been featured on numerous national television shows and food blogs. In 2011, it expanded to a second location downtown. In 2012, it added a spot in Petco Park. Hodad’s was closed Feb. 6 in honor of Hardin and Feb. 7 in tribute to a co-worker who died in an auto accident.
