Friends of Del Cerro (FODC) continues to move forward with the establishment of another new Neighborhood Watch. This time it is in the Del Cerro Hearst area.
If you live in this area and are interested in participating in the new Neighborhood Watch, contact us through our website at friendsofdelcerro.org.
You may also contact us through our website if you would like a new or replacement Neighborhood Watch sign.
Jackie O’Connor, one of the founders of FODC, updated us on her most recent, and successful experience with the City’s Get It Done App.
Jackie owns O’Connors Church Goods at the eastern edge of Mission Gorge Place in Grantville.
There was a homeless encampment, adjacent to the Visions Church parking lot which is next door to Jackie’s business. As a result of a report of the encampment through the Get It Done APP, the City of San Diego arrived with nine trucks and within 90 minutes the encampment was gone including, but not limited to all the mattresses, drug paraphernalia, trash, tarps and tables. The residents of the encampment had even tapped into one of the light posts on the bridge for their electricity.
To encourage use of the Get Done APP, do not hesitate to contact us through our website, and FODC will be glad to submit your request.
FODC continues to work with the city, to repair and replace broken infrastructure and plant material in the median of Del Cerro Blvd. east.
Our membership continues to grow, and a most recent member is interested in upgrading the area at the very eastern end of Del Cerro Blvd.
The FODC has been asked to spotlight residents of Del Cerro who have made a difference in our community over the years. Please send your suggestions of people we can feature by contacting us through our website.

You may have read or seen on a couple of our local television stations the effort, particularly by our Councilmember, Raul Campillo, to establish a permanent home for the traveling Holocaust Exhibit at the new San Carlos Library. The Holocaust exhibit is currently at the La Jolla Branch Library.
Stay tuned as this brings new life into the new San Carlos Library.
