The La Mesa Park & Recreation Foundation and City of La Mesa are excited to bring together local artists, performers, art enthusiasts, and the community for an afternoon of inspiration and creativity during the annual Art in the Park event.
This event aims to foster a sense of community and appreciation for the arts while providing a platform for local artists to showcase their talents. It will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 2-6 p.m. at the La Mesa Community Garden in MacArthur Park, located at 5080 Memorial Drive.
“This is our third year hosting this event and we look forward to engaging the community and promoting local artists as we continue to grow,” said Leigh Harns, vice president of the La Mesa Park & Recreation Foundation. “Art has the remarkable ability to unite us and transcend boundaries, as we celebrate the beauty of human expression and the power of imagination.”
Visitors can expect a diverse range of artistic expressions, live painting and sketch artist demonstrations, art vendors, performing artists, art show displayed through the garden, and more.
Art in the Park will also feature live music performances, food trucks, drinks, opportunity drawings, and interactive activities for children. Early Bird Packages (food voucher, drink bracelet and two tickets for drawing), can be purchased online through May 13 at a 30% discount.
Applications are currently open for art vendors through May 6, offering artists and art organizations the opportunity to exhibit and promote their craft.
Interested participants can apply through the La Mesa Park & Recreation Foundation website.
