This July, Jewelry with Friends at Grossmont Center in La Mesa announces its Summer Camps, offering an experience of self-discovery and individual expression through the art of jewelry making.
Tailored for young creatives, the camps provide an opportunity to explore the rich history and diverse cultural significance of jewelry while crafting personal, meaningful pieces.
Each camp day begins with engaging visual explorations of jewelry stories from various eras and cultures, setting the stage for a week-long journey of artistic discovery. The expert instructors facilitate discussions on how jewelry has been used to symbolize different values throughout history, encouraging campers to reflect on their own stories and express them through their creations.
Participants will dive into hands-on projects that introduce a variety of tools, techniques, and processes essential to jewelry making.
From exploring colors and textures to working with natural materials, every activity is designed to be both educational and enjoyable.
Sample projects include creating backpack charms, initial and nameplate jewelry, charm bracelets, clay bead jewelry, paper bead jewelry, macrame keychains, and pyramid-inspired jewelry storage boxes, among others. With each week offering new projects, campers can enjoy a fresh and exciting experience by signing up for multiple sessions.
