Both Bishop’s and La Jolla Country Day are still alive in the Division IV baseball playoffs. On May 26, the No. 9-seeded Knights (14-11-1) played at top-seed Madison and the No. 6-seeded Torreys (21-8) played at No. 3 seed Mater Dei in the first round of the double-elimination championship. In boys’ volleyball, No. 2 seed La Jolla’s bid for a three-peat fell short in the Division III finals on May 22 as they were knocked off by top-seed Cathedral Catholic 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22. The Vikings finished the season 25-14. After beating Coronado 5-4 in the play-in round of the Division IV softball playoffs on May 22, La Jolla Country Day was eliminated from the double-elimination tournament with a pair of narrow losses in consecutive days. The Torreys (16-7) fell into the lower bracket with a 1-0 nine-inning loss at No. 4 seed Palo Verde on May 24 and were eliminated by the same score the next day at Horizon. Bishop’s (10-13) lost 12-1 at Madison in the play-in round. In the girls’ lacrosse playoffs, La Jolla and Bishop’s both saw their seasons come to an end last weekend. The Vikings (7-11) lost 14-5 to No. 4-seed Poway in the first round on May 21. Bishop’s (13-6) got out of the first round with a 14-12 win at Santana on May 21, but the Knights were beaten the following day 19-6 by top-seed Torrey Pines. La Jolla Country Day advanced to the quarterfinals of the boys’ lacrosse playoffs before losing 12-0 at No. 3-seed Coronado on May 25.
