A tribute to one of the greatest musical duos of all time, The Simon & Garfunkel Story (above), stops in at The Sound on March 9. A combination of concert and play, the show follows the career trajectory of acoustic troubadours Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, from their late 1950s beginnings as Tom and Jerry, through to Simon’s post-duo solo career in the 1980s. For diehard fans, the night’s soundtrack includes a wonderful mix of Simon-penned deep cuts, and hit singles such as “Sounds of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Simon and Garfunkel aficionados, or anyone who appreciates classic rock, will love every second of this show, its touring cast does a great job of capturing the look, sound, and most importantly, the vocal harmonies of the titular pair and their backing musicians.

Blending Argentinian music and dance, The Art of Tango will take place at Baker Baum Hall on March 1. Presented by Camarada, to preserve and promote tango music, the concert is both a musical and visual feast, featuring acclaimed musicians, Beth Ross Buckley (flute), David Buckley (violin), Andrés Martín (bass) Dana Burnett (piano) and Pablo Jaurena (bandoneon), alongside dancers Carolina Jaurena and Andrés Bravo, all joining forces to interpret works written by composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Eduardo Rovira, Aníbal Troilo, and Andrés Martín. Anyone who appreciates dance or Latin sounds will find much to appreciate at this performance.

SOMA
Ska/punk fans won’t want to miss an excellent four-band bill happening at SOMA on March 1, topped by Goldfinger, and also featuring The Ataris, The Mad Caddies, and Slick Shoes. Formed in 1994, Goldfinger still features original members John Feldmann (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Charlie Paulson (lead guitar), and though they haven’t released new music since the 2020s album, “Never Look Back,” the band continues to deliver a high octane, hit-filled show, sure to get the concert-goer’s adrenaline pumping.

MOONAGE DAYDREAMERS
Anyone looking for a cover band that avoids cliché classic rock selections will want to hear The Moonage Daydreamers, who play at Beaumont’s on March 7. Led by guitarist/vocalist Ariel Levine, the band specializes in rock from the 1970s-1980s, mixing new wave, British pub rock, early punk, and more into a set that will keep the venue’s dance floor filled. With not-often-covered favorites from the likes of Elvis Costello, Roxy Music, and The Talking Heads in their setlist, the Moonage Daydreamers are like a really hip live jukebox.

HUMPHREY’S BACKSTAGE LIVE
Singer Terry Steele brings his celebration of the late soul singer Luther Vandross to Humphrey’s Backstage Live on March 9. Steele is an accomplished vocalist, working over the years with the likes of Dionne Warwick and Hiroshima, while as a songwriter, he’s been covered by legends such as Whitney Houston and Patti Labelle. For this performance, Steele will focus on Vandross’s hits, from his first, 1981’s “Never Too Much,” up to his final recordings, such as “Dance With My Father.” Steele has a resemblance in look and manner to Vandross and does an impressive job of capturing the famed singer’s voice.

TYLER THE CREATOR
One of music’s biggest current stars, rapper Tyler the Creator, performs at Pechanga Arena on March 9 and 10. Not many artists can fill an arena on one night, let alone two, but Tyler is in the midst of a hot streak, scoring his third No. 1 album in a row with his latest, “Chromakopia.” The spotlight at this concert will be on recent top 10 hits, such as “Noid” and “Sticky,” with a full production, including stage sets, dramatic lighting, and fireworks explosions, giving fans equal amounts of spectacle and music. Attendees should make sure to arrive early to catch opening performances from Lil Yachty and Paris Texas.
