A murder suspect tried to commit suicide yesterday morning as police investigated reports of a dead body found in the suspect’s apartment on the 800 block of Agate Street in Pacific Beach, according to police investigators. Police responded to reports of a dead body found in the apartment at about 5 a.m., police said. At approximately 9 a.m., as police interviewed neighbors and collected information for a search warrant to legally enter the residence, police received a call after a vehicle struck a 21-year-old man, later identified as Ian Suazo, at the intersection of Chalcedony Street and Mission Boulevard, police said. The man hit by the car lived in the apartment where the dead body was found, police said. Police believe the 21 year old was trying to commit suicide. The Suazo was transported to the hospital for serious trauma injuries, said Lt. Kevin Rooney of the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Division said. Police have not identified the victim, who was in his 30s, he said. A police guard has been placed with Suazo until he is arraigned. “Based on the information we have so far today, he has been placed under arrest.” Rooney said, “He’s under arrest for murder.” Police did not know the nature of the relationship between dead man and the Suazo. Police did not release the cause of death. Investigators wanted to wait until they had the search warrant needed to enter and search the apartment for evidence. Police were still waiting for the warrant by Wednesday afternoon, Rooney said.
