A preliminary hearing of Feb. 7, 2024, has been set for a man charged with fatally stabbing a homeless man in a McDonald’s parking lot in the Midway District in August.
West Covina Police arrested Armando Manuel Parras, 32, on Sept. 17, after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest in the murder of Joshua Goodman, 44, who was attacked around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 30.
The attack only took about 30 seconds when a man arrived in a minivan, got out, and chased Goodman in circles in the parking lot before stabbing him multiple times. A woman was seen driving, and the man who stabbed Goodman got back in and they drove off.
Police said it appeared the attackers had followed Goodman, who rode his bicycle to the fast food restaurant. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
Parras has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in San Diego Superior Court and a judge declined to set any bail for him. A judge has sealed an arrest warrant declaration that may contain some facts of the case.
The prosecutor and defense attorney could not be reached for comment. Parras remains in the George Bailey Detention Facility.
West Covina Police said they had detained Parras in some unrelated matter at a motel, but when they checked his name, they discovered he had an outstanding warrant for murder. They contacted San Diego Police, who brought him down to San Diego.
