Help celebrating the bond between humans and dogs when San Diego Humane Society, FIDO and the City of San Diego celebrate National Dog Day with Councilmember Lorie Zapf from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26 in Fiesta Island Off-Leash Dog Park. This fun celebration of National Dog Day will be filled with a lot of free fun for your furry friend. It will feature courses, free samples, licensing, micro chipping and vaccinations. “It is an honor of the National Dog Day celebration with a lot of activities for your dog. A collaborative morning to take your dog out and see other dogs and play and have fun “, said Donna Cleary, communications director at City of San Diego. The event is hosted by Zapf, who is a dog owner herself. Zapf often takes her dog out to Fiesta Island and she wanted to do something to involve people in the community and their dogs. “It is just a good opportunity to go out and have fun with your dogs, meet new people and get some free samples,” said Cleary. So bring your dogs and join Fiesta Island fun at the fenced dog walk area on the southwest part of the island. What: National Dog Day celebration.
